She is deeply driven by transformative stories, using music to uncover their emotional layers and give them a deeper cinematic voice.
Maria’s recent film work includes Unconditional, a documentary showcased at the White House, and Sky Blossom (directed by Richard Lui), which was recognized by Variety as one of the Top 25 Contenders for the 2021 Awards Season. Her credits also include range of narrative and documentary projects where she has served as a composer, music editor, and supervisor. In 2025, she received the Best Score award at the 48 Hour Film Project - New York, highlighting her skill in crafting music under tight deadlines.
A graduate of the Gnesin Academy of Music and Berklee College of Music, Maria earned her degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. At Berklee, she collaborated with acclaimed artists such as Latin Grammy Award–winner Toninho Horta and Nile Rodgers, broadening her creative range and refining her distinctive voice as a composer.
Maria’s musical journey began in the internationally acclaimed children’s choir Vesna, whose performances received recognition on global stages. Those early years of touring and performing shaped her strong musicianship and love for collaboration, inspiring the expressive and cross-genre approach that defines her music today.
In addition to her film work, Maria is passionate about producing independent artists and continues to explore the intersection of acoustic and electronic sound, experimenting with synthesis, pop production, and avant-garde elements. Her goal is to create music that resonates emotionally and culturally, drawing from her roots while embracing a global perspective. She believes in the power of finding one’s own voice through culture and continues to build her career on that vision.
